It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here on the Coast! After the last year or so, we could all use a little extra holiday cheer this season. Luckily, the Mississippi Gulf Coast has good tidings aplenty and lots of family-friendly activities this time of year!

1. Get a head start on your gift list with Ocean Springs’s Holiday Open House & Small Business Saturday! Some local businesses will be offering refreshments, specials and beautiful decor!

2. Join the City of Ocean Springs and the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce on December 2 on the Mary C. Cultural Center’s front lawn for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting! Pictures with Santa, Christmas carols, and more at this family fun event! BYOC (bring your own camera) for photos with Santa. Event begins at 6 PM.

3. The magic of the holidays comes alive at the Annual Gulfport Winter Lights Festival. Kicking over on November 26, the show runs until the end of December. Walk or ride through Jones Park 1,200,000 twinkling lights span the entirety of Jones Park. With over 1.5 million twinkling lights, this event is considered one of the largest lighting displays in the country and was even prominently featured in the 2017 Lifetime holiday film "Christmas in Mississippi"! The spectacle can be enjoyed as a walking tour or aboard a heated trolley! Santa is available in Santa's Village and the event is dotted with hot chocolate stands and photo stations which are perfect for capturing the fun times. Tickets can be purchased here or at the park!

4. The Annual Christmas on the Bayou is a parade that couldn't be more Coastal Mississippi. Now recognized as one of the South's Top Twenty events, this show has grown exponentially since its inception in 2000. Dozens of boats adorned with lights create a magical kind of spectacle as they parade along the water. This year’s event will set sail on Saturday, December 11 at 6 PM. You can find the route and spots to view it at the link here!

5. Don your sweaters and head over to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum for some ice skating fun! The $13 admission tickets include the ice skate rental and can be purchased at the box office on the NORTH side of the arena. Tickets cannot be secured in advance, so it’s best to get to the Coliseum as early as possible! More information can be found here.

“It’s not going in our yard, Russ. It’s going in our living room.” - Clark Griswald

6. The most iconic Christmas decoration is the Christmas tree, and there is nothing quite like going out in search of the *perfect* one! You would think Christmas tree farms would be hard to come by here in Coastal Mississippi, but Gulf Coast Mom has put together a list of local farms in the area! Not interested in the chopping aspect? They’ve also included local stores that stock cut & ready to decorate real trees! Click here for the full list!

Wishing you and yours lots of fun this holiday season!
